A New Year of Guys Read

Mr. Hora and I have enjoyed summer break. Each of us spent time with our families and friends. We also spent a good amount of time reading. As the summer comes to an end we are busy preparing for a new year at Creek. Polishing our shoes, dusting off the bow ties, and picking out book ideas for our Guys Read club.

What is this Guys Read club?

Simple! It gives guys a chance to meet and talk about all kinds of stories and information.  It is all about giving guys a fun way to find new reading of all kinds. (no book reports, no tests, no stress)

Mr. Hora and I have been sponsoring the club for a couple of years. Last year we met after school on the last Thursday of each month. Our first meeting for the new year will be Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 2:45 p.m. in the library.  We will have an informational meeting during the first week of school and emails will go to parents with more details and permission slips.

One of our traditions is for guys to give book recommendations to the group.  What is my first recommendation?  Here it is!

Oh yes!  It is the Spongebob Comics Annual-Size Super-Giant Swimtacular 2015.  It is "48 pages of Far-Flung Futuristic Fiction For Fans of Funny Fish" (see that use of alliteration!).

Great suggestion, Mr. Cox!  I'm re-reading one of my favorites from the Guys Read series. It's Guys Read: Thriller! It's weird! It's mysterious! It's so good, it's scary!

We want to hear about books you enjoyed this summer.  What should other guys be reading?  Leave your ideas in the comments.  Need book ideas?  Look here: http://www.guysread.com/books/
